Body

The cylindrical part of the can to which the end is seamed.

Body Blank

The flat sheet metal cut in a rectangular shape before being formed into a can.

Body Hook

The flanged part of the can body that interlocks with the cover hook.

Carbonation

Dissolved CO₂ within beverages. In the beverage industry this is generally done through forced carbonation. Gas is injected directly into the cold liquid within a sealed, pressurised system or carbonator machine. The high pressure forces the gas to dissolve into the liquid

Chuck

The tool that holds and supports the end during seaming.

Coatings

Internal and external protective layers (e.g., BPA-NI).
