Cold Fill

Filling at a low temperature to reduce foam and oxygen pickup.

Compression

Force applied during seaming operation by pressing something into a smaller space and therefore reducing its volume.

Conveyor

The belt that transports cans through the production line.

Countersink depth

The vertical distance from the top of the seamed end to the bottom of the countersink. Indicates structural strength and fill volume.

Countersink Depth

Cover Hook (End Hook)

The section of the end that is curled and interlocked with the body hook.

Cut Seam / Knocked-Down Flange

A damaged body hook or cut metal caused during forming.
